|Susanna Tubb Dora High School
Class of 2006 Is On Her Way
After graduating in May 2006, I moved to Tuscaloosa to attend the University
of Alabama. At the University I am a Blount Undergraduate
Initiative Scholar. I rushed in the fall of 2006 and pledged Zeta
Tau Alpha. As a sophomore I became Zeta’s Scholarship Chairman. Now
I am the current Zeta Vice President. I am on the director’s board
for the University’s St. Jude Research: Up ‘Til Dawn Program
with another fellow Dora Alumni, Nichole Isbell (class of 2005). We raised
money for St. Jude Research Hospital. I have been or currently involved
in numerous other groups on campus some of them including the SGA, Phi
Eta Sigma (honor society), Alpha Lambda Delta (honor society), Sigma Alpha
(honor society), Order of Alpha (honor society), Golden Key (honor society
for the top 15% of UA class), and Gamma Sigma Epsilon (Chemistry Honor
society). I am currently a junior and a Biological-Chemistry major.
I work as a student assistant chemist in a research lab on campus with
Dr. Dan Daly. We do research on ionic liquids and slow release drug research.
I plan to graduate in May 2010. After graduation I will attend medical
school. I have my heart set on Vanderbilt, but I will be happy wherever
I end up. I want to specialize in reconstructive surgery. I might even
do a MD/PhD program. I would like to work at St. Jude Research hospital
one day, do ER surgery, or surgery dealing with birth defects in children.
I have plenty of time to figure that out, and will be glad to see where
my schooling leads me. In my spare time, I’m usually studying but
you might be able to catch me in Dora visiting family or in Tuscaloosa
hanging out with friends.
