Adam Wells, Dora High School Class of 2000 Passes Away
Adam Wells who graduated from Dora High School in 2000 passed away on Saturday July 30th. . Service for Adam will be at Dora High School on Friday, August 5th at 11:00 a.m.

LaWanda Grant, 23, of Quinton, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006. Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, April 17th 2006 at the St. Joseph Baptist Church in Dora with burial in the Washington-Carver Cemetery in Birmingham. Rev. Ernest Hood will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6p.m on Sunday April 16, Faith Chapel Funeral Home will direct.

Christopher Alton “Chris” Wilson, 18, of Empire, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2009. He was a graduate of Dora High School Class of 2008. He was an honor student at ITT Techinal College in Bessemer, and was employed by the City of Sumiton.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 21, at 11 a.m., in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel in Dora. The Rev. Alton Pittman and the Rev. Terry Murphree will officiate. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home in Dora will direct. Visitation will be today, April 20, from 6 until 8:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, the Rev. Joseph Perry Wilson.


Cordelia Anneak "Dee" Stephens, 21, of Forestdale, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012. Dee was a 2008 graduate of Dora High School. Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 1, 2012 at 2 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Gene Cook and the Rev. David Farry will officiate. Burial will follow at McCormack Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, from 5:30 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Johnnie and Clovis Hyde and Buddy and Carole Pennington. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Marketta (Paul) Miller; daddy, Jerry (Lynda) Stephens; father, Lee Pennington; brothers, Jonathan and Chris Pennington; sisters, Lacie Pennington, Christy Spurgeon and Leslie Moore; grandparents, Howard and Darlia Stephens; uncle, Donnie Hyde; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 


Catherine Ann Muse, 18, and Alondan Carlota Turner, 18, both of the Argo/Cordova community of Walker County, passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, from injuries they sustained in the tragic Days Inn Fire in Hoover.
A joint funeral service will be held for Catherine and Alondan at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Dora High School, with burial in the Argo Community Cemetery. The Rev. Darren C. Allen and the Rev. Bruce Henderson will officiate. Scott-McPherson Funeral Home in Fairfield will direct.

Catherine and Alondan graduated from Dora High School in 2009, and were both freshmen at the Mississippi University for Women at the time of their death. They attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cordova.
Catherine Ann Muse was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Roy Muse and John Sally.
She is survived by her mother, Dawn Berry of Florida; father, Anyea (Lakiesha) Muse of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Denisha Muse of Florida, Anyea Muse of Atlanta, Ga., and Kristen Curcio of New York, N.Y.; brother, Kahlil Muse of Atlanta, Ga.; and grandmothers, Annie Muse of Argo/Cordova community and Elaine Sally of Florida.
Alondan Carlota Turner was preceded in death by her father, Alvin W. Turner; grandfather, Roy Muse; and uncle, Alonzo Turner.
She is survived by her mother, Alondan M. Turner of Argo; sisters, Vicki Turner and April Turner; brother, Alvilonte Turner; and grandmothers, Carlota Turner and Annie Muse of Argo/Cordova community.
Catherine and Alondan are also survived by several aunts and uncles, Alisha Muse, Patricia Turner, Alvin Muse, Alan Muse (Linda) and Jermaine Muse (Carlissa); and a host of other relatives and friends.
