Bobbye Wilson Wade, age 85, of Dora, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018. She was a retired Special Education Teacher from the Walker County Board of Education, having taught for 25 years at Sumiton School. She was the writer of the “Walking Back in Time” column for the Daily Mountain Eagle Newspaper in Jasper.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018, from 12 until 1 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 1 p.m. in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Thomas Reeves will officiate. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold John Wade; and her son, William “Bill” James.
Survivors include her son, Eric James; stepdaughter, Martha French (Charlie); stepson, Harold James “Jim” Wade (Mary); special friend and caregiver, Helen Price; and many other relatives and friends.

New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home, Dora; 205-648-2323

Alton Leo Hamrick, 83, of Curry, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired postmaster from Empire Post Office. Funeral services will be held today, June 11, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Douglas Hamrick, the Rev. Terry Hamrick and the Rev. Garland Owens will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Jasper. Visitation was held on Monday from 5:30 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Boyce and Bertie Hamrick. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ruth Hamrick of Curry; daughter, Marilyn Kilgore and husband James of Jasper; son, Doug Hamrick and wife, Sherry, of Jasper; grandchildren, Ashlea, Paige, Jake and Stanley Hamrick, all of Jasper; and sister, Cleo Hamrick of Empire.


HUDSON, THOMAS EDWARD "TOM CAT" 82, of Jasper, Alabama, passed away May 28, 2013, in Huntsville. He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Thomas, parents Thurman and Ila Hudson, sister Doris Quinn, and brothers John F. and Dewey L. Hudson. Survived by his wife of 57 years Diane; son Michael (Cheryl), and grandchildren, Sarah and Nicholas, of Hayden, Alabama; son Bruce (Tanya), and grandchildren, Joseph, Andrew, and Stephen, of Pleasant Grove, Alabama; son Frederick of New York; brother Robert and (Gloria), of Bessemer, Alabama; extended family, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Thomas graduated from Dora High School in 1950, served in the Marines during the Korean War, was a retired independent truck driver, and a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013, in the evening from 6 to 8 pm at Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper, Alabama. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 31, 2013, at Collins-Burke at 11 am. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale, Alabama, immediately following the service.


Faye York Sandlin, 75, of Jacksonville, Ala. and formerly of Walker County died Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Jacksonville Medical Center.
