James A. Parker, Sr. age 83 of Pinson, passed away Friday September 25, 2015 at St. Vincent's Hospital. He was an electrician.

Nila KIllianNila Morgan Killian from Dora High School Class of 1951 passes away

Nila Morgan Killian, 81, of Sumiton, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at Bell Funeral Home in Sumiton. Preceding her in death were her father, Clyde Morgan Sr.; her mother, Hartselle Morgan; and her brothers, Clyde Morgan Jr. and Kenneth Morgan.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Killian of Sumiton; daughter, Kaye Norris (James Bartlett) of Hoover; son, James Dennis Killian of Sumiton; and many nieces and nephews.

Imo Lee Cook Sanders from Dora High School Class of 1951 passes away

Imo Lee Cooke Sanders, 82, of Lynn’s Park, passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at St. Vincent’s Hospital East in Birmingham.

Funeral services were on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014. She was buried at Sardis Cemetery in Lynn’s Park..

Preceding her in death were her husband, Joseph G. Sanders, Sr.; parents, Barbara Morgan Cooke and Thomas Bryant Cooke; and brother, Thomas Edwin Cooke.

Survivors include her sons, Joseph G. Sanders, Jr. and his wife, Debbie and Nathaniel Bryant Sanders and his wife, Paula; grandchildren, Jessica Marie Sanders and her fiancé, Lt. William J. Walker III, Iris Megan Sanders Jarvis and her husband, Lt. Grant M. Jarvis, Jacob Sanders and Anna Grace Sanders; brother, Kyle Cooke and his wife, Irene; her beloved aunt, Katherine Morgan Boyd and her husband, Luke; and a host of nieces and nephews.

DEASON, MARY FRANCES "FRAN" 78, passed away July 3, 2013 at her home in Johnson City, TN. Born in Dora, AL, to Burgess and Clifford W. JohnsonMary Francis Carter Deason, she was later adopted by Myrtle and William S. Carter after the untimely death of her mother. Fran graduated from Dora High School, worked for the FBI in Washington, DC, then returned to Birmingham where she married Richard W. "Dick" Deason. They had two daughters, Anna Deason Chapman, deceased, and Andrea Deason Clements of Johnson City. Fran spent most of her life as a homemaker, "Memom" to five grandchildren, and caring for others. Her joys were painting, working puzzles, and watching NASCAR and she will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wellington Deason; daughter, Anna Deason Chapman; and brother, Jerry Mitchell. Fran is survived by her daughter, Andrea "Andi" Deason Clements and husband, Dale; grandchildren, Tanner Paul Clements and wife, Tiffany, Victoria "Tori" Christian Clements, Timothy Shane Clements, Michael "Tucker" Clements, and Kylie Nicole Chapman; great-granddaughter, Eliana "Ellie" Grace Clements, daughter of Tanner and Tiffany; brothers-and sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Committal services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 5th, 2013, in Mountain Home National Cemetery with Tanner Clements officiating. Joe C. "Buddy Joe" Hatley, 78, of Bagley, passed away on Thursday Nov. 17, 2011, at Baptist Medical Center-Princeton. A service to celebrate Buddy Joe's life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Dora. Everyone is invited to attend. Hatley was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Mary Hatley Sr.; brothers, Albert LeRoy Hatley and Homer B. Hatley Jr.; and sister, Margaret Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Donna S. Hatley; daughters, Sherry Hatley and Pamela Jo Hatley and her husband, Steele Olmstead; son, James Hatley; stepsons, Greg and Paul Nuckolls; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a host of extended family members and many friends.
