Class of 1978

DAUGHERTY, BARRY KALE, age 43, of Dora, AL, died November 2, 2003 at his residence. He was a tire store manager with Ross Neely Trucking Company and also served as Captain of the Dora Fire and Rescue Department. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Daugherty. Survivors include his wife, Donna Daugherty of Dora; daughter, Heather Louise Daugherty of Dora; son, Christopher Kale Daugherty of Dora; father and stepmother, William and Marzenia Daugherty of Shanghi; sisters, Patsy Dill (Ricky) of Sumiton, Lisa Clark (Dan) of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Judy Daugherty and Tracy Elkins (Barry), all of Shanghi; brothers, Larry Daugherty (Christy) of West Jefferson, Ronnie Daugherty (Jody) of Oak Grove, Tony Daugherty (Cindy) of Warrior, Timmy Daugherty (Tina) of Jasper, and Ray Morgan of Sipsey; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Doug Tate officiating. Burial will follow in Shanghi Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. New Horizon Funeral Home directing.
TURMAN, RHONDA DEE WISE, age 45, of Sumiton passed away Sunday, November 6, 2005 at her residence. She was a member of East Walker Church of Christ. She was previously employed with Hayes Aircraft and also as a photographer with the Daily Mountain Eagle Newspaper, The Community News and Dickerson Studios. She was preceded in death by her father, Darrell Wise and her grandparents, Earl and Louise Wise and Sarah Jane Knight. Survivors include her husband, Larry Turman; two daughters, Chelsea Turman and Julian Maleá Turman; her mother, Betty Knight Wise; her sister, Tonya Wilson and her husband Mickey all of Sumiton; a niece, Heather and her husband Craig Washington and their children Anna Reece and Wilson; a nephew, Christian Wilson; her grandmother-in-law, Audrey Turman and aunt and uncle Donald and Peggy Turman; several other nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of friends. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at East Walker Church of Christ, with Mr. Barry Bennett officiating. She will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home, Dora 205-648-2323.
