That was about the only thing that went wrong for the Trojans, as they dominated previously undefeated Dora 38-6.
Muscle Shoals churned out 293 rushing yards and 340 total yards behind the tailback duo of Jamarcus Nance and Tyler Jackson. Nance rushed for 112 yards on 10 carries while Jackson rushed for 83 yards on eight carries. The Trojan defense, meanwhile, held Dora to just 119 total yards with 65 of those yards coming on two plays.
Muscle Shoals took advantage of 2-yard punts on each of Dora's first two possessions to score its first two touchdowns.
The Trojans started at Dora's 45-yard line after the first poor punt and quickly drove for a score in eight plays. Nance capped off the drive with a 5-yard touchdown run that put Muscle Shoals up 6-0 after a bad snap doomed the extra point.
After Dora's second consecutive punt for two yards, the Trojans took over at the Bulldogs' 33-yard line. Jackson took an end around 20-yards for a score on the first play of the second quarter to put Muscle Shoals up 14-0 after Roger Jackson ran in the 2-point conversion.
Muscle Shoals quarterback Ryan Ware didn't have to pass much, but his arm led to the Trojans' next touchdown. On third and 15 from the Dora 28-yard line, Ware hooked up with Jackson on a slant for a 25-yard gain to the 3-yard line. Nance carried it in the end zone on the next play.
Dora then did something that no other team has been able to do against the Trojans this year. The Bulldogs put together a touchdown drive.
Dora got in scoring position with a 31-yard pass that was tipped and caught along the sideline by Kenton Petties at the Trojans’ 21-yard line. A personal foul call then moved the ball to the 11-yard line and a pass interference penalty in the end zone on fourth down gave Dora a first down at the Trojans’ 5-yard line. Dora took advantage of the charity when quarterback Caleb May threw a swing pass to Kai Thomas, who dove into the end zone with 5 seconds left in the first half. The Trojans only allowed Dora to gain 46 yards in the second half, with 34 of those coming on one play in the final minutes against the Trojans backups.
The Trojans scored twice more in the third quarter, the first coming on a 20-yard touchdown run by Nance, his third of the game, and the other on an 8-yard run by Jackson. Blake Logan hit a 45-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.
Muscle Shoals, the No. 2 ranked team in Class 5A, now turns its attention to No. 1 ranked Hartselle, which visits the Trojans next Friday.
Dora makes the trip to Bibb County in a key region game next week.
