Class of 1941

WINGO, ELLIS JAMES, age 83 of Ashville, formerly of Empire, passed away September 9, 2006. He graduated from Dora High School in 1941 and served in the Merchant Marines in World War II. He retired from CSX Railroad after 35 years of service. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Mary Wingo; son, Michael Wingo (Kim); daughters, Sheila Ashley (Danny) and Becky Williams (Tommy); brothers, Winfred and Norman Wingo; sisters, Opal Wrenn and Colleen Wooten; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Ridout's Trussville Chapel with burial in Forest Crest Cemetery. Richard Ashley officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, September 11 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
